Last week, CURC held its annual Winter General Membership Meeting and Capitol Hill Day here in Washington, D.C. We were pleased to be joined during our General Membership Meeting on Tuesday, February 27th by Assistant Secretary for Fossil Energy (ASFE) Steve Winberg as well as Senator Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND).
On Wednesday, CURC members met with 42 Congressional offices, including Members and staff from both the House and Senate. CURC’s message on the Hill focused on the following issue areas:
- Providing robust funding to the DOE Fossil Energy Research and Development Program for Fiscal Years 2018 and 2019;
- Supporting legislation that would expand and increase the Section 45Q tax credit, as well as provide technical corrections to the Section 48A tax credit; and
- Enabling the development of new fossil energy projects, including carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS), in any energy or infrastructure legislative proposals.
We would like to thank all CURC members that were able to join us in Washington for what was a very successful two days on Capitol Hill!
