The Carbon Utilization Research Council (CURC) sent a letter to the Trump administration today urging it to reverse US development bank policies that prevent financing of overseas coal plants.
The letter states that the United States should lead the global effort to encourage the deployment of the most efficient coal technologies available, as the policy currently prevents U.S. companies from participating in international markets where other countries such as China are financing less efficient technologies. CURC voiced its opposition to such policies and engaged in advocacy on this issue when the policies were proposed and implemented by the World Bank and the US Export-Import in 2012.
