CURC Statement on Energy Infrastructure Act

July 15, 2021

CURC Executive Director Shannon Angielski provided the following statement in support of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee’s passage of the Energy Infrastructure Act:

“The Carbon Utilization Research Council (CURC) continues to support the advancement of federal policy solutions that promote the deployment of carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) technologies and applauds the passage of the Energy Infrastructure Act by the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee. Investments in CCUS technologies will be key to decarbonizing many sectors of the U.S. economy and this bipartisan bill would authorize critical funding for the deployment of these technologies, including the CCUS demonstration projects that were authorized in the Energy Act of 2020 and the SCALE Act provisions necessary to support the buildout of critical CO2 transport and storage infrastructure in the United States. CURC appreciates Chairman Manchin’s leadership on these important provisions and looks forward to collaborating with him and his colleagues to advance robust funding for CCUS technologies in any legislative package considered by Congress.”
