CURC Welcomes New Members IBEW and ClearPath Action

October 21, 2016

CURC is pleased to report the addition of two new members - the International Brotherhood of Electric Workers (IBEW) and ClearPath Action.

The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers represents 725,000 active members and retirees who work in a wide variety of fields, including utilities, construction, telecommunications, broadcasting, manufacturing, railroads and government.  The IBEW has members in both the United States and Canada and stands out among the American unions in the AFL-CIO because it is among the largest and has members in a wide array of skilled occupations.  IBEW has long supported a national energy policy that addresses climate change while promoting baseload power, and has been a supporter of the CCUS Act (S. 3179) and carbon capture technologies more broadly to promote further investment in coal-fired generation.

ClearPath Action is a 501(c)4 nonprofit organization with the mission to accelerate conservative clean energy solutions by focusing on lowering barriers for affordable and reliable baseload clean power: clean coal, nuclear, natural gas, and hydropower; and on driving breakthrough energy innovation. Operationally, the organization works with policymakers to help them understand how policy may impact their districts and America's economic competitiveness and energy security.

We are pleased that the technology focus of both organizations aligns with the CURC mission, and look forward to them joining in our efforts.  For more information, please visit their websites at www.ibew.org and www.clearpathaction.org
